Five string banjo player, Mick Harrison, has been part of the Melbourne Bluegrass/ Banjo scene for around 30 years. Having played with The Busby Mountain Boys, The Hillwilliams, Hardrive, and now presently with The Old Crossroads and Alluvium. For this workshop, we will focus on a traditional fiddle tune (Salt Creek), commonly played in jam sessions. The aim is to firstly demonstrate how to play it in a “straight ahead”, Scruggs style. Then later, play it in a more melodic, fiddle tune style. We’ll also work through back up options, for behind the fiddle breaks.
