About the event
The Jamboree was established in 2004 to highlight the banjo, its styles and related instruments. Traditionally the emphasis has been on American string band music (bluegrass, old-time, Appalachian, jug band, Hawaiian and blues) but more recently the program has expanded to encompasses other styles such as Celtic, Klezmer, Jazz and contemporary music.
The heart of the Jamboree is the camaraderie experienced by playing music with old and new friends in various spots around the town and it is that experience that has people returning year after year.
The program includes concerts, workshops, a children’s session, a Gospel singalong, a bush dance, open stage concerts, and various sessions around the town.
